Story
Adam, in his early 20s, has to balance the need to develop his career as a pro musician with the demands of home life - he runs a vineyard in France - and partner Sylvain. The arrival in his life of Josh - they meet on a concert tour - adds extra pressure. Though Sylvain, left at home to manage the vineyard, has his own ideas for self-advancement. This third and final volume in the Adam trilogy stands alone also: A self-contained story of life, partnership, and, inevitably, music.

Story
The tragic-comic story of two young men, aged 21 and 18, who fall in love in the summer of 1962, but who have the misfortune to be working as teachers in a Catholic preparatory school at the time. Their names are Tom and Christopher. In the opposite corner to them stands Father Louis, the elderly headmaster. It is his conviction that the sixties will go down in history as the decade which sees the earthly triumph of the Catholic Church. Life becomes more complicated for Tom and Christopher when Miss O'Deere, the art mistress, decides to paint the pair as David and Jonathan and to enter the result in a public exhibition. To say nothing of the inconvenient attentions paid to them by 13-year-old Angelo Dexter.

Cyril Avery is not a real Avery - or at least that's what his adoptive parents tell him. And he never will be. But if he isn't a real Avery, then who is he? Born out of wedlock to a teenage girl cast out from her rural Irish community and adopted by a well-to-do if eccentric Dublin couple via the intervention of a hunchbacked Redemptorist nun, Cyril is adrift in the world, anchored only tenuously by his heartfelt friendship with the infinitely more glamourous and dangerous Julian Woodbead.

Bookstore owner Aubrey Barnes likes his quiet, orderly London life, thank you very much. His shop may be struggling, his only employee is a menace, and his plumbing is one creaky pipe away from disaster, but he can handle it. Maybe. He cannot, however, handle the film company that's thrown his Soho street into chaos. And he definitely can't handle the charismatic American actor Blake Sinclair.

Born under different stars—Mungo a Protestant and James a Catholic—they should be sworn enemies if they’re to be seen as men at all. Their environment is a hyper-masculine and sectarian one, for gangs of young men and the violence they might dole out dominate the Glaswegian estate where they live. And yet against all odds Mungo and James become best friends as they find a sanctuary in the pigeon dovecote that James has built for his prize racing birds.

Story
Di Canzio follows their story past the end of Maurice to the front lines of battle in World War I and beyond. Forster, who tried to write an epilogue about the future of his characters, was stymied by the radical change that the Great War brought to their world. With the hindsight of a century, di Canzio imagines a future for them and a past for Alec—a young villager possessed of remarkable passion and self-knowledge.

Decent little but could have been better
I bought this as the story sounded nice and I thought it could be a simple winter read. I am certainly not a prude, and I do realize it’s a story about teenagers, but page after page of masturbation and description of genitals (not sure what words are appropriate for Audible) got to the point where it was almost ridiculous. I stuck it out to the end, but had the story been any longer I wouldn’t have. The author’s narration was fine, but it might have been better had a younger person done the reading.
