About this listen

With only the wedding dress on her back and her honeymoon luggage in the car, Kari Worthington is running away. Determined to put her controlling father, her rigidly structured life, and the uptight groom she left at the altar in her rearview mirror, she escapes to the Texas Hill country...and lands on a tall, dark, and gorgeous winery owner's doorstep. All she needs is a job and a place to live until she can get back on her feet. So why is she fantasizing about losing herself in his powerful arms?

For Marc Cordero, freedom is so close he can taste it. He's devoted his life to managing the family business and being a single dad. Now, with his daughter away at college and his brother taking over the winery, Marc is ready to hop on his Harley for parts unknown - until a runaway bride bursts onto the scene. Free-spirited and tantalizingly sexy, Kari excites him like no other woman has before. But when irresistible passion turns into something more, will Marc give up his future to take a chance on love?

So great!!

This story follows Cowboy Take Me Away even though it works just fine as a standalone. A runaway bride wrecks her car in the rain and shows up on the front porch of a local vineyard owner who happens to be fed up with his life as it is. Of course there is a romance, and I listened to this one straight thru in one day.

I really like this small town and their love with animals and pets. I wish there were more books in this series because I’d fly right they them all.

Gruff but Loveable & Dependable

This second volume in the Rainbow Valley series was not as well conceived as Take Me Away Cowboy. Mark Cordero is not as layered or complex as Luke Dawson. As for Kerry Worthington, her emotional progression is more believable, but it's challenging to sympathize with her. I wish Jane Graves would be more sensitive to cultural stereotypes. I am a first generation American. With a name like Cordero, there was plenty of room to tell an interesting story about the family history. I also thought her writing of the "Mexican" workers was insensitive.

Wow! Loved it!

It being a romance novel, I knew they'd get together in the end (not a spoiler), but I didn't know how. A good novel keeps you hooked so you don't want to stop listening. This one was like that & kept me wondering & guessing about what was going to happen all the way to the end!

I hope Audible gets all of this author's books read aloud soon!
